Atyab Investments, a prominent Omani company, has expressed its intent to construct a fruit and vegetable canning facility in Uzbekistan. The announcement came during a meeting between the director of Atyab Investments, Haitham al-Fann, and Uzbek Ambassador Abdusalom Khatamov. The proposed factory aims to bolster Uzbekistan’s food processing industry, with Atyab Investments prepared to supply state-of-the-art equipment for packaging various food products, particularly fruits and vegetables. The investment is projected to total $4mn, reflecting the company’s commitment to expanding its operations into new territories. Find out more here.

Emirates Global Aluminium has partnered with beverage can-makers Crown and CANPACK to launch Every Can Counts, an innovative campaign that aims to encourage consumers to recycle used aluminium drink cans, boosting the circular economy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. UAE citizens and residents each on average consume more than 60 aluminium drink cans every year – some 660 million aluminium beverage cans in total annually. Only a third are currently recycled, compared to over 95 per cent in leading recycling countries. More than 440 million aluminium cans currently end up in UAE landfill sites annually. Cervecería y Maltería Quilmes, one of the oldest breweries in Argentina and a subsidiary of AB InBev, has now fully replaced a glass line at its facility in Buenos Aires with KHS technology for can filling and packaging. Quilmes recently invested in the high-capacity KHS Innofill Can DVD can filler plus several packers and palletisers, among other equipment. Read more here.
