It might be the silly season here in the UK, aka the slow news season, as it’s known in the US, but even though traditionally the dog days of summer are renowned for being a bit empty of other than frivolous news, we’ve still managed to gather enough stories about what’s occurring in the world of metal packaging to fill the issue.

In News in Brief, it won’t surprise you hear that much of the news is to do with canned beverages, both soft and alcoholic, where the industries involved are endlessly innovating, whether it be in developing new flavours and products, ingenious packaging solutions and design, or improving the means to get products on the market more efficiently than ever. For instance, Huss Brewery launches new beers in cans and Ball mimics the Italian Pint for Crak Brewery.

In our World News section this month, you can read about mergers and acquisitions and successful collaborations.  These include  Tata Steel and Thyssenkrupp who announce their European Steel Merger and Larson Tool who team up with Nidec Minster.

New venture for Canmaking News
