September really did feel like going back to school as we got ready for the 2024 IMDPA Annual Conference.

It was a fantastic few days, where attendees delved into a variety of insightful presentations, covering topics spanning industry trends to technical innovations, while also networking and recognising the vast achievements within metal decorating.

The event kicked off on Tuesday with the IMDPA Memorial Golf Outing & Banquet, providing a chance to network and support the IMDPA Scholarship Fund. Metal decorators enjoyed camaraderie on the scenic Eaglewood Golf Course, followed by an evening celebrating the day’s achievements. Read our show round up here.

The conference concluded with the launch of the Women in Canmaking Association (WICA), introduced on stage by Canmaking News’ Publisher Janis Osborn and Sarah LeMoyne-Davidson and Martha Rojas of Roeslein & Associates. The three founders, who have over 60 years of combined industry experience, presented WICA as a groundbreaking initiative that aims to address the gender gap within metal packaging, an area of manufacturing where women remain underrepresented. By fostering a supportive community, it plans to create opportunities for women to advance at all levels of the industry and cultivate the next generation of female talent. Eviosys has unveiled the latest addition to its Orbit closure range, the 66mm diameter closure for jars, designed to be opened without force. Eviosys believes that there is a growing need for inclusive packaging in the global food market, with the company’s latest research finding that 82% of consumers often struggle to open metal lids on traditional glass jars. It adds that this is especially the case as Europe navigates a rapidly ageing population and the associated demand for accessible products. Read more here.
