Autumn or Fall, depending which side of the pond you’re on, has well and truly landed and with it comes some excellent shows.

Latamcan took place at the end of September and although we were unable to attend this year, those of you that attended have said how wonderful it felt for things to feel a little more back to normal. By all accounts the show was a huge success and we can’t wait to attend next year. Similarly the IMDPA is due to take place at the beginning October, whilst again we are unable to attend due to US border restrictions, we know that this will be an excellent show and we can’t wait to hear your news from it. Check out the presentation schedule here.

Elsewhere, the global community is facing enormous issues with supply chains, which as we know, is affecting aluminium can production fairly significantly. In the UK we’re seeing huge queues at petrol stations and delays with our beloved royal mail. We’re currently looking into the effect this is happening on the wider metal packaging industry and will bring you an in-depth report over the next few days.

In the news

Thai Beverage still considers the listing of its beer subsidiary as the most viable way of raising funds for further expansion, Southeast Asia’s major brewer has said, as it sought to make clear its plans while the pandemic rolls on. “The IPO will certainly happen,” said President and CEO Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi at Thai Beverage’s annual news conference. Read more about the planned IPO here.

Britvic is to create 20 jobs as part of a £26.9m investment at its factory in Rugby, UK. The investment involves the installation of a fourth canning line, growing the site’s total capacity by a further 18 per cent. The set-up will produce recyclable 330ml cans for Britvic’s portfolio of brands, find out more here.

According to The Business Research Company’s research report on the food cans market, recyclable aluminium cans are shaping the food cans industry. Companies operating in the food cans sector are increasingly focusing on recyclable aluminium cans to strengthen their position, find out why here.

BAMA is here!

The annual BAMA Forum & Awards Dinner is due to take place this on the 12th and 13th October and we are SO pleased that we’re able to attend as a guest of Ball’s. We’ll bring you all the news in the days following and we can’t wait to see some familiar faces.
