Welcome to December!

We’ve loved seeing the festive innovations launching in December, most notably a full Vegan Christmas lunch in a can (see below) and Spam’s new Figgy Pudding in a can (we’re not too sure about that one!). We’re currently working on our 2022 annual, showcasing the best of Canmaking News from the last 12 months and it’s looking better than ever before.

Most excitingly, we are celebrating 20 years of canmaking news. We can’t quite believe that we’ve been around that long either but we have and it’s been an exciting, wonderful 20 years getting to know you all. It’s been lovely hearing all the fantastic things you’ve said about us and we can’t wait to share our 20 year feature over the coming days.

Roeslein Poland is undergoing a full-scale renovation and expansion of its facilities to accommodate the company’s rapid growth and meet customer demand. In 2019, Roeslein & Associates acquired what is now known as its Poland manufacturing facility in addition to purchasing 12 acres of land to develop. After several years of construction, a new space will be ready for occupancy in January 2023. Read more about the facility here…

Heinz has launched a fully vegan version of its popular Christmas Dinner Big Soup recipe, which sold out last year. It comes as Heinz says it wants to “make sure even more people than ever can enjoy what is fast becoming a festive favourite.” Find out more here…

A global seafood canning company is investing $21 million in a plant in Florida. Frinsa, a fish and meat canning company based in Spain is planning to employ up to 115 people. According to the Lakeland Economic Development Council Senior Vice President Katie Decker, the company has reached out to Enterprise Florida in Tallahassee for help with funding, who then directed company officials to several economic development councils in cities throughout the state.
