We don’t know about you but things are certainly looking up! Lockdown restrictions across the UK are slowly being lifted and we can now meet outside in small groups – just in time for the long Easter weekend. For me personally, this couldn’t come at a more welcome time. Easter is the time for new life and we’re currently awaiting the very imminent arrival of our first grandchild –we can’t wait to welcome the newest member of the Canmaking News family!

You may have seen our first Can Lady feature from our fantastic guest writer, Karen McKenzie, entitled: ‘Jobs for boys or is the tide changing?’ Karen examines the changing role of women in the industry and interviews some incredible  female figures whilst she’s at it – check it out here.

Karen also did some digging into the Greensill capital crisis and why this could spell disaster for the steel industry, have a read of Karen’s report here.

Elsewhere it’s been a busy month for news. At the end of the month, the UK government announced that the deposit return scheme was to be subject to a new consultation, further delaying the implementation of the scheme. Rick Hindley from Alupro tells us why the government needs to listen to consumers and the packaging industry before rushing into adopting the scheme.

As ever, keep sending us your news and stories, we love to hear from you!
