Welcome to August….Eight months ago none of us could have predicted that we’d be where we are today in this so-called ‘new normal’. In the UK, day-to-day life is almost back to pre covid-19, with most pubs, restaurants and shops now re-opened. This is great news for the industry. Cans are simply booming, they are sustainable, and you can put virtually anything in a can…
To conference or not to conference?
We can all agree that video conferencing has become more and more tiresome, although with offices reopening and many of us going back to work, the seemingly relentless volume of Zoom calls seems to be dwindling. The question now for the sector is when can we start going to conferences? The exhibition calendar is a fantastic part of industry, a place to network and meet clients. There is nothing like the personal touch and conferences and exhibitions make up the backbone of our industry. We cannot wait to see you all again as soon as it is safe to do so.
First on our list for 2021 is the ADF&PCD in January, Paris, then of course the ‘big one’ Metpack in February and Latamcan 2021 in Mexico City. If you haven’t already booked your place for Latamcan click here to get in touch with the team. We are a media partner and look forward to schmoozing once again!
Sustainability seems to have been the running theme of the last few weeks with several firms releasing their sustainability reports. It’s encouraging see that despite the global pandemic, the industry is still committed to their ESG standards. At Canmaking News we’ve been very busy ourselves throughout this period and have shown our commitment to you by investing in a brand new, carefully designed website. We hope you like it. The team have worked hard to make the site more responsive and user friendly in order to offer a better and more complete service to the industry. The new logo reflects our commitment to you.
And..we celebrate 85 years of the can… James Gittings joins us as one of our feature journalists and makes his debut with an article on the 85 year anniversary of the can. It’s a good read and a good start for James. He will be in touch to dig for information for future projects, so remember the name! Karen McKenzie is still part of our freelance team of course, look out for her articles too.
Enjoy your well-deserved holidays. We hope you have a lovely time – Canmaking News will still be here when you get back!
