Mid summer is a time of high days and holidays for many of us but the world of canmaking carries on regardless.

This month we’re hunting down and looking at increasingly popular canned alcoholic summer beverages: craft beers, wines and cocktails; it’s not just the contents that are important, more and more on-trend manufacturers are using unique and fabulous art works to differentiate their products from more mundane or traditional cans. Not that we’re knocking the mundane or traditional, there is clearly a place for familiar and trusted packaging, but young modern consumers, as we’ve said before, are more image-aware than any previous generation and appealing to their visual sub-conscious is savvy marketing.

And talking about savvy marketing, this month features our guest writer Karen McKenzie, whose article The Reality of Marketing . . . or is it? investigates the 21st century multi-layered world of Augmented Reality.
