Welcome to June! It is officially summer and we are hoping you will continue to follow Canmaking News from wherever you were when the lockdown was announced whether that might be home, office, caravan, motorhome or tent!

It is encouraging to see new beverage cans on the shelves this season. In particular Marks and Spencer who are selling a range of wines including sparkling rosé in cans.  Launched by Uncommon, and designed by Henry Connell and Alex Thraves (co-founders) the wine-in-can labels come in at 5.5% abv at only 83 calories per can. ‘Alfie’ is the English white and ‘Peggy’ the English rosé. As a former restaurant owner, I had to give this one a ‘taste test’ as you will see below! Jack Daniels are also producing a range of cocktails in cans, it’s fantastic to see a long-established company like Jack Daniels taking advantage of the opportunities canning beverages has to offer. You will also find an article in the UK’s Evening Standard listing the top ten cocktails in cans.

Take a look at our news for the full stories.

The Can is doing very well and the message is getting across globally and successfully. With the postponement of festivals this year it looks like we will be having our own summer celebrations in our gardens and backyards – drinking from cans of course.

Gradually we are being advised to creep back to normality.  If this continues we should be ready for the shows next year.  In the meantime we just need to keep ‘zooming’ ahead, keeping in touch with each other. We at Canmaking News have some exciting new opportunities that we can offer to help you with the lack of contact. Take a look at our news alerts and you’ll see what we have on the table.  We also have a Suppliers’ Message centre which will allow you to post a thought, view or update on how your business is doing.  Just ask and we can organise this for you.

Finally, we allowed free access to Canmaking News for three months. A decision has now been reached to make it free permanently.  All you have to do is fill in the subscription form and you will be issued with login details and then you can read all the articles and news totally free whenever you wish. We hope this will help your industry and encourage you to contribute even more news than you already do.  Please make sure we are on your company mailing lists too.

Have a ‘zooming’ start to the summer! It will (hopefully) be over sooner than you think.
