A busy start to the year for the Canmaking News team as we attended the annual ADF packaging show in Paris. A highlight on our calendars, it was lovely to catch up with you all and see the impressive work our industry continues to showcase. The event attracted nearly 9000 visitors this year, a 30% increase from June’s event. With 38 speakers across the two day event, it really isn’t one to miss. Next stop AmericaPack in New Orleans – although more about that below.

You’ve been busy….

For over 15 years, the aluminium can industry has held a world record in recycling. And, according to Cátilo Cândido, president of Abralatas, it can serve as an example for others, with a circular economy model that includes partnership with cooperatives of solid waste collectors. Cândido talks here about the new moment in the Brazilian environmental agenda and trends for the industry.

Ardagh Metal Packaging North America (AMP – NA) is extending its already substantial product line for beverage brand customers by launching a new 19.2 oz.(568ml) beverage can.The new can size, expected to serve strong growth in the single-serve channel, represents the first time a 19.2 oz. (568ml) can has been manufactured in the United States by AMP. Find out more here.

Emirates Global Aluminium announced the launch of the Aluminium Recycling Coalition, which aims to drive a step-change in aluminium recycling in the UAE. The coalition also expects to provide support to Government on aluminium recycling regulation and policies, and to work together to further the development of aluminium recycling infrastructure.
