Wealth, Health and Changes…
As 2016 comes to a close the year has been a year of challenges and surprises that could affect the future of this industry. There is the possibility of a tariff war that could have major effects on our markets.
However, raw material prices look steady, the high growth of the canned craft beer sector and the ongoing success of the industry recycling drive is encouraging. There have also been some major changes within the industry led by the merger of Ball and Rexam. Change is to be embraced and we hope this industry that we value so much can only benefit.
We have continued to media partner the main shows including the IMDA and ChinaCan organised by WorldCan Conferences. We attended the Aerosol Show (ADF) in New York which was a great success and we will continue to work closely with them. The latest news on their show for 2017 is in World News. Next year of course is Metpack. We are ready and looking forward to the largest show in the metal packaging industry which only takes place every three years and is not to be missed.
Health plays a major role in all our developments and we carry a story in News in Brief from Sipp Eco Beverage who have created a range of Sparkling Organics. They have become an established name in the ‘natural’ as well as the conventional grocery markets. They market a ‘craft-centric line of Organic sodas’ that now comes in 10.5 oz. slim cans. Speaking at a recent industry event about why the firm chose cans, Sipp founder and CEO Beth Wilson said: “What we’ve heard is that a lot of the customers are looking for something better for you and kind of getting away from traditional beverages, and we can offer that with the cans. It’s less expensive” she said.
Condolences
We would like to send our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Sean Lydon who very suddenly passed away on the 27th November. He was the Director of Business Development at EKL Machine Company Inc. Sean we met on many trips and we have very happy and fun filled memories of our time spent with him. Our thoughts are with EKL and his family at this very sad time.
Season’s greetings to you all and enjoy the holidays.
