SPRING IS IN THE AIR… AT LAST
In this month’s feature we look at the War on Plastic and how our industry can really make a difference when it comes to saving money, saving time and saving the planet… “what’s not to like?” we ask.
In our World News section, we’ve a piece about The Trump Tariffs on Tin Metal and the CMI response, and as usual in News in Brief, you get what it says on the tin: a collection of short articles to keep you abreast with what’s happening in the industry.
The next Event: The IMDA 2018
On the 22nd to 24th of next month the 2018 International Metal Decorators Association (IMDA) Conference is once again in Oakbrook, Illinois. This year the Annual Conference addresses the many variables the industry faces to keep viable, innovative and ahead of the game.
The Conference will open with a keynote presentation by David Sewell of The Sherwin-Williams Company. David will discuss market drivers and how core technologies can be leveraged to create metal packaging innovation.
Other first-day speakers include: Arthur Stupay from Dix & Eaton who will provide insights into the state of the industry from a financial perspective. Rick Alaniz, Attorney at Law with Cruickshank, LLP, is to present on emerging legal trends, and motivational speaker, Lisa Copeland, will share her success stories on inspiring and leading others to be the best they can be.
The Awards Luncheon will be on the Wednesday and will honour the Member of the Year, Decorators of the Year, and Excellence in Quality award winners.
IMDA has also announced it is expanding its Breakout Session format to include a new segment on manufacturing, and its well-attended Sponsor Hosted Exhibition will round off Wednesday with hospitality which, they say, is second to none.
Thursday’s agenda will begin with a key presentation on the State of the Food Industry by Todd Hale, followed by a presentation by Can Manufacturers’ Institute V.P. of Marketing and Communications, Sherrie Rosenblatt who will discuss the activities of CMI as they relate to promoting the metal package.
Continuing with its focus to present information on what packaging schools are teaching, a presentation by Dr Andrew Hurley, Clemson University, will discuss the virtues of biometric based packaging design.
There is still time to register, if you haven’t already.
Canmaking News will be there and we’ll report on the conference in next month’s issue.
We look forward to seeing you soon and if you have any news or latest developments please email: editorial@canmakingnews.com
